Mod industry partnership with UTS Animal Logic Academy

In 2018 Mod continued its great relationship as an industry partner with UTS Animal Logic Academy and for the second year, Michela Ledwidge was invited to deliver a postgrad masterclass. Later in the year she was part of the industry panel that selected student projects for further development.

Over the following semester the student cohort collaboratively produced work as a studio, for which Michela was a mentor, with work presented at an end of year showcase.

We were impressed with the imagination and diligence demonstrated by students and in January 2019 Mod was pleased to offer a short term Technical Artist contract to graduate, Illia Statkevych.

Illia said, "When Michela introduced Mod during one of many UTS ALA workshops, and showcased all the toys they were playing with, I thought it was pretty awesome and inspiring. Later on I discovered that she was a great speaker as well and knew how to engage most of us. I also had the privilege to work with her one-on-one brainstorming one of the academy’s projects and was impressed how methodical and tactical she was in regards to design, problem solving and communication. I remember thinking to myself, if that’s a skill, I want to learn it! I didn’t think at that time that Mod would offer me a starting position, not to mention allowing me a day off to work on my personal projects providing their equipment. It was an opportunity I could not refuse! I’m looking forward to learning possibilities and the results that our collaboration yields."
