The Gift DRAFT

An immersive, interactive installation project celebrating the significant and generous gift of Bronius (Bob) Sredersas.

Bob was a post-war Lithuanian migrant steel worker who quietly put his wages into an extensive personal collection of important Australian art. In his final years Bob gifted his collection to the City of Wollongong. This gift became the impetus for the establishment of Wollongong Art Gallery, which commissioned this work.

The work consisted of three key areas. A tunnel featuring a collection of Bob's personal objects, where his presence is brought to life via interactive audio-visuals.

A display of Bob's extensive documents and correspondance.

A portion of his collection, exhibited to recall the paper-wrapped paintings he brought home from auction, together with a re-enacted interview Bob gave.
